Romie Terms of Service
Official English translation of the Romie member terms so every user understands the same rules and safety expectations.
Chapter 1. Platform Nature & Scope
Romie (“we”, “the platform”) provides one-on-one dining matchmaking via our website and mobile apps. Registering, browsing, sending or accepting invitations, using chat, or accessing any feature means you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and any future updates. Changes take effect once announced; continuing to use Romie indicates consent. You confirm you are at least 18 and have full legal capacity. If you falsify your age or lack capacity, we may terminate your account without compensation.
Chapter 2. Eligibility & Registration Requirements
Romie is for natural persons only; corporations or organizations may not register. You must be 18+ with full capacity. Provide truthful personal information (photos, age, basic profile). Each individual may hold only one Romie account; creating a new account requires closing the existing one and passing review. We may ask for email, phone, or third-party verification and can reject, throttle, or terminate accounts at our discretion when safety or risk is involved. Account sharing, ghostwriting, automation tools, or device spoofing are prohibited.
Chapter 3. Account Security & Responsibilities
Your account and password (including third-party logins) belong to you alone. All actions taken through the account are deemed your actions. Safeguard your credentials; Romie is not liable for losses caused by negligence, leaks, device loss, or using public/shared devices. Notify Romie immediately if you suspect compromise; acts occurring before notification remain your responsibility. Do not disrupt or bypass security, scrape data, reverse engineer, or harvest other members’ information. Internet transmission carries inherent risks, so Romie cannot guarantee absolute confidentiality. We may restrict features, force re-authentication, or freeze accounts when anomalies arise.
Chapter 4. Conduct Rules & Prohibited Uses
Romie is strictly for personal, one-on-one dining introductions. Do not use it for commercial promotion, scams, recruiting, loans, benefit exchanges, or any purpose inconsistent with the platform. Misrepresentation—including fake identities, using others’ photos, or presenting AI-generated personas—is forbidden. Harassment, threats, explicit content, hate speech, or aggressive behavior leads to suspension. Major violations include money requests, fundraising, investment solicitations, off-platform funneling, or forcing meetups in unsafe environments. Scraping data, copying UI, modifying system code, or running bots is banned. Meet only in vetted public venues; coercing someone into high-risk settings triggers permanent bans. Communicate respectfully with other members and Romie support.
Chapter 5. Offline Risks & Liability Limits
All offline interactions are voluntary and undertaken at your own risk. Romie does not guarantee another member’s behavior, intentions, safety, or punctuality. Conflicts, harassment, financial exchanges, lost property, alcohol-related incidents, or travel issues remain between the parties involved. Traveling to non-partner venues or private locations is solely your choice. Partner restaurant information is provided on a best-effort basis; disputes with venues must be resolved directly. Sharing your own phone number, social handles, or address is optional and at your risk. For serious incidents Romie may freeze accounts and, when necessary, cooperate with authorities, but we do not provide on-site assistance.
Chapter 6. Partner Restaurants & Reservations
Partner venues are curated public locations for first meetings. Details (hours, pricing, menus) may change without notice. Romie does not guarantee service quality, reservation success, hygiene, or ambiance. You must settle all consumption disputes directly with the venue. If you and your date choose a non-partner venue after the initial meeting, Romie bears no liability. Reservation assistance depends on restaurant availability and does not constitute a service guarantee.
Chapter 7. Invitations, Dining Credits & No-Show Rules
Invitations require one invite card; accepting an invite places one dining credit on hold for each party and is fully refunded upon timely attendance. If the invitee does not respond before the deadline, the inviter’s dining credit is restored. After confirmation Romie assists with the booking.
- Both attend: Invitee’s dining credit is refunded. Inviter spends 1 invite card + 1 dining credit as a service fee.
- Invitee absent: Inviter receives the dining credit back plus 10 invite cards. Invitee forfeits the dining credit and receives a no-show strike; Romie may reduce their exposure.
- Inviter absent (major violation): Inviter loses the dining credit (and invite card) and receives a major strike. Invitee gets the original dining credit back plus 1 extra dining credit and 10 invite cards; Romie may severely limit the inviter’s exposure.
- Both absent: Both sides forfeit dining credits/invite cards and receive no-show strikes.
Dining credits and invite cards are digital usage rights with no cash value; they cannot be refunded, resold, or converted into cash. Abuse intended to farm compensation may result in permanent bans. Romie holds final discretion on no-show determinations and credit adjustments.
Chapter 8. Subscription Services, Payment & Refunds
Subscriptions are processed via Apple App Store or Google Play; Romie never handles your payment credentials. All plans auto-renew unless you cancel through the respective store. Deleting the app, ceasing to log in, or deactivating the account does not cancel billing. Subscriptions cannot be paused, deferred, or transferred. Losses from negligence, compromise, or account suspension remain your responsibility. Romie does not issue direct refunds; please apply through Apple or Google. If a refund is granted, Romie may revoke subscription features and deny future purchases.
Chapter 9. User-Generated Content & Licensing
All content you upload (text, photos, videos, audio, interests, files) must belong to you or be properly licensed. It may not infringe copyrights, privacy, trademarks, or publicity rights; it must not be false, misleading, violent, explicit, defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, or hate-filled. AI-generated impostor images are forbidden. By uploading, you grant Romie a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, display, modify, analyze, and process the content for platform operations, ranking, moderation, and product optimization. Obvious personal data (faces, public photos) will only appear within Romie unless you separately consent. Romie may employ AI to analyze photo quality, detect fraud, or classify risk. Public profile data may appear in matching flows; share sensitive data at your own discretion. Romie may remove or limit content without notice and is not obligated to store backups. You bear full responsibility for the content and agree to indemnify Romie against related claims, damages, or legal fees.
Chapter 10. Accuracy & Third-Party Content
Member profiles, photos, occupations, and interests are self-reported; Romie does not guarantee accuracy or completeness. You must judge credibility yourself. Third-party materials (restaurant info, external links, partner promotions) belong to those providers. Romie is not liable for losses resulting from reliance on third-party content.
Chapter 11. Chatrooms, Interaction Rules & Safety
Chat opens only shortly before a confirmed dining event for logistical coordination. Do not demand sensitive data (addresses, financial information, personal identification). Sharing personal info is voluntary and at your own risk. Romie cannot guarantee another user’s conduct, punctuality, or intent. Threats, harassment, explicit solicitation, scams, or high-risk behavior in chat can lead to immediate bans and reports to law enforcement. Romie may automatically screen messages for safety but is not obligated to monitor all conversations.
Chapter 12. Service Interruptions & Force Majeure
System maintenance, third-party outages, network failures, or force majeure (natural disasters, power loss) may temporarily disrupt the service. Romie does not guarantee uninterrupted availability or protection from data loss, delays, or technical glitches. Expired invites, delayed reservations, failed messages, or exposure changes caused by such events are not compensable. Romie may suspend part or all of the service without prior notice when necessary.
Chapter 13. Data Retention, Suspension, Deletion & Inactivity
If you violate these Terms, engage in fraud, harassment, violence, or receive repeated reports, Romie may limit features, reduce exposure, suspend, or permanently ban the account. Virtual goods, subscription time, and matches linked to a suspended account are not refunded or extended. You may delete your account at any time; deletion is irreversible and forfeits all virtual goods. Romie may retain essential logs, chats, transaction records, and activity data for safety, fraud prevention, or legal compliance. Accounts inactive for 12 months or longer may be suspended or removed per internal policy.
Chapter 14. Member Disputes & Platform Discretion
Romie only provides matchmaking tools and does not arbitrate private disputes, including emotional conflicts, financial disagreements, or misunderstandings. If you encounter harassment, fraud, threats, or potential danger, report the user immediately; Romie will act digitally (e.g., blocking accounts). For emergencies contact local authorities; Romie may share required records but does not provide physical interventions. Romie has final discretion over violation determinations, no-show records, exposure adjustments, and feature restrictions. If you disagree, you may stop using the service but cannot demand compensation.
Chapter 15. Governing Law, Arbitration & Class-Action Waiver
You agree to submit all disputes arising from Romie to binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. You waive the right to pursue class actions, class arbitrations, or collective remedies unless mandatory law dictates otherwise.
Chapter 16. Minor Protection Policy
Romie is for adults aged 18 or older. Users represent that they meet this requirement upon registration. If we discover an underage account, we will suspend or delete it immediately and may notify authorities. All conduct involving minors—including sexual suggestions, solicitation, media exchanges, grooming, or attempts to meet—is strictly prohibited. Report suspected minors or suspicious behavior; Romie may require identity verification, block accounts, and cooperate with law enforcement.
Chapter 17. AI Features, Recommendation Algorithms & Transparency
Romie may employ AI to enhance matching, restaurant suggestions, content moderation, and risk detection. Models may rely on your uploaded content and usage behavior but will not use private chat history for commercial analytics. AI outputs are recommendations, not guarantees. Romie may adjust exposure or feature access based on risk assessments without revealing proprietary algorithmic details. If you object to AI processing, discontinue use of Romie services.
Chapter 18. Fraud Prevention Policy & High-Risk Alerts
Romie deploys automated systems to detect scams, abnormal invitations, or suspicious solicitation. High-risk behaviors include requesting money, pitching investments, funneling users to other platforms, demanding sensitive data, or moving conversations off-platform for malicious purposes. Losses from personal decisions (investment scams, financial transfers) are borne by you. Criminal conduct—fraud, extortion, sexual exploitation, compensated dating—results in immediate bans, and Romie will cooperate with law enforcement. Accounts repeatedly reported or flagged by risk controls may be permanently barred to protect the community.
